Front and Center Rock caught up with Jenny Mariposa
An extra from the brand new My Chemical Romance video "Desolation Row" for the upcoming movie, The Watchmen.

FACRock: How did you become involved in the music video shoot?
Jenny: I am a self supporting model and through my network I was informed by a friend that they were having auditions for the music video "Desolation Row" by My Chemical Romance.

Tell us briefly how the day went for you and how long it took.
It was exciting to see the band up close and personal, I showed up dressed for the part then I was escorted to the sight by security guards. All of us punks and extras were up on the second floor watching the band play till it was our turn to act and mosh. I was so close to them at one time I could see the shoes Gerard wore. It was a long but fun day of dancing, screaming, moshing and just plain rocking out fun.

Where was the video shoot?

Downtown LA, Tower Theater

What were the hours? Plus, how much of that time were you actually filming and how much of it was waiting around?
2pm-1am. We filmed straight through with few stops till dinner, which was 30 minutes.

Were you already a fan of My Chemical Romance?

Of course! I remember being 14 and buying the CD "Life on the murder scene". All of my friends are fans, and they were pretty jealous I got to be a part of the music video.

Are you familiar with the original version of the song by Bob Dylan?
Yes and no, I learned more about it when I was on set. People would talk about it and relay information as we watched and listened to My Chemical Romance play.

Have you gone back to listen to the original Dylan song, and if so, how do you think the MCR version compares?
They did an amazing job and the My Chemical Romance's version did a great job capturing the essence of the song and what it embodies but with a flare all of his own.

What was it like to watch the completed video for the first time?
It was a unique feeling. I felt good for being part of it, but at the same time I saw a lot of things they cut out and threw away that could have added more to the video. But to tell you the truth they captured the mood of the day perfectly and the band's enthusiasm. Gerard and the rest of the crew all felt so much for the movie "Watchmen" they kept bringing it up as a tribute. I truly feel they did the music video for them and what the movie stands for... Justice and the drive to preserve our freedom.
