Matt Costa brought a mix of southern blues, gritty power, rock and roll and the band Delta Spirit with him to Tallahassee, mixing together for a solid show. Delta Spirit reminded us of the talent and power that can be expected from Costa and his associates. A combination of old school blues and unprecedented power, the opening band successfully filled the task of gearing up the crowd. Matt Costa steered away from his poppier ballads and played a great deal from his debut album, Songs We Sing, wrapping up the show with a beautiful a capella, seemingly improvised number. The show was organic and intimate, the crowd left satisfied as Costa continues to establish himself.
